In the woods, one of your most essential gear items is your filter. It's a bad day when it looks like this:
While the filter was purchased approximately 7 years ago, it has only less than 2 months of use on it. Katadyn only warranties their product for two years and can't help us with this issue.
So...
We bought a Sawyer Squeeze. Our fellow hikers are very happy with the product, and many, many people out here are using one. While the pump filters to a smaller micron, this will keep us quite safe for the duration of our journey!

wow they wouldn't send you a new pump arm? I know I have replaced that part before! crazy. regardless the SS looks fun might be in our future for trips where we don't need to worry about siphoning or viruses :)
