We got a late start today after talking with a really cool family. All 7 of them are out here thru hiking together, and call themselves The Thru Crew. Dad is recently retired military, and mom has been educating the children for many years. We got into a discussion this morning about the choice to homeschool, and the decision to come out here. They are super interesting and we really enjoyed the conversation. If you'd like more info, check out www.FarNotFast.com.
We had been a little anxious to get a few extra miles in today on top of our plan in order to walk a shorter distance in tomorrow's forecasted rain. But we found ourselves talking to day hikers on to if Wayah Bald Tower and got delayed. By the time we passed out originally intended shelter we decided to call it a day and get to bed early in order to get an early start tomorrow. Hopefully we can get packed up before the rain starts so at least the tent will be dry.
Erik's knee is doing well with only a little pain lately. My feet show signs of improvement and I hope will be up to snuff very soon. The bruises from my fall last week are healing, though are all very tender and have required some TLC these last couple of days. Looking forward to a zero in Hot Springs in a couple of weeks!
